17 active COVID-19 cases at SWOSU

The SWOSU administration announced on Tuesday, Jan. 19, that there are currently 17 active COVID-19 cases at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.


16 students from the Weatherford campus were reported positive and remain quarantined as well as one employee. The number marks a slight increase compared to last week, when 13 cases (2 employees, 11 students) were reported positive.


The city of Weatherford currently has 91 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Oklahoma Health Department.


As a reminder: In order for classes to go virtual, 250 students need to be infected with COVID-19, according to the SWOSU phase plan.
