Braden Sweet, starting safety for the Bulldogs football team, is a fifth-year senior from Perry, Oklahoma.

Sweet is a former walk-on and plans to graduate in May with his master's in business administration. He completed his bachelor's in accounting last May.

“I chose accounting because I'm really good with numbers,” Sweet said. “It's something that has always made sense to me, and one big reason is there is a lot of demand for accountants and every business needs an accountant.”

He said feels this is the best year he's had in his college career as he leads the team in tackles for the first time, and it allows him to help develop and lead the underclassmen.

“Some of it is easy,” Sweet said of taking on a leadership role. “Being a fifth-year guy you just become a leader; other parts are harder. Like for me, being a vocal leader is more difficult because I'm a more lead-by-example-type of guy. So, being a vocal leader isn’t my forte, but it’s something I've had to step into.”

He said he thinks the Bulldogs have been doing well in practice but because of certain moments in games the team hasn’t reached the outcomes he believes the team show they can achieve.

After graduation, Sweet plans to move to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and eventually open a ski and bike rack shop.
