For The Southwestern

The Catholic Student Association is one of the various religious organizations here at SWOSU.

The group is headed by Father Kelly Edwards, the chaplain, at St. Eugene Catholic Church in Weatherford.

The CSA is fairly new to the SWOSU campus, starting in late 2019.

“The goal of the group is to serve students at SWOSU and keep them connected to, or discover the Catholic Church,” Kelly said.

Anyone is welcome to join the organization or attend events at the church or around town. Most of their events will take place at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 704 N. Bryan St., in their student center.

The organization has a weekly schedule of events. These include the CSA meeting at Qdoba on Mondays to eat and pray, Mass on Tuesdays, lunch served at the church on Wednesdays, and a game night or Bible study on Thursdays.

Their next event will be a game night on Sept. 17.

“The student center has a large TV and lounge, pingpong table, foosball, air hockey, and a study area with nice tables and couches,” Kelly said about the St. Eugene Student Center. The center is open for use outside of the formal events.

Students can stay up to date with what is going on with Catholic Student Association by following @swosucatholic on Instagram, where they will post updates of their schedule and activities and what they will be serving for lunch on Wednesdays.
