SWOSU PD is investigating an incident of domestic abuse, assault and battery, that happened on April 24, 2021, in Oklahoma Hall on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Weatherford campus, involving a female SWOSU student and Brent Schroeder, who has a criminal record and currently an outstanding warrant.

According to court records obtained by The Southwestern, the alleged victim, a female SWOSU student, reported the incident to the campus police and pressed charges. As of her statement, she and Brent Schroeder, who was convicted to 4 years probation in 2020 because he robbed Jiffy Trip in Weatherford (photo), had a romantic relationship in the past, but not anymore.

On April 24, she and Schroeder were hanging out in a dorm room on the 4th floor of Oklahoma Hall. The SWOSU student told him about some plans she had, and he became "irate" with her. After an argument, she tried to leave, but was pulled back into the room.

A second attempt to leave was also unsuccessful. As he approached her a third time, she slapped his face, following him hitting her lightly on the side of the head and the ribs.

Brent Schroeder then went into the room to grab his phone, and she exited the hallway and went down the stairwell. She heard Schroeder enter the stairwell, calling out "Where are you bitch?"

According to her, two months prior to this incident, Brent shoved her to the ground and stole her phone.

6 days later, Brent Schroeder came into the SWOSU police station and told a story that significantly differs from the one the alleged victim told.

According to his statement, she was "retarded, drunk, and belligerent" on that day. They argued if they were going to be a serious couple or not. He said that she was mad at him and wanted to leave. In the hallway, he grabbed her around the waist from behind and picked her up. He said that she was laughing and okay with it.

After seeing that Schroeder had received a text by another girl, the SWOSU student pushed him in his chest and slapped him on his left side. Later in his room, she slapped him on the back of the head and choked him from behind. He then pushed her and took her outside the dorm room. She then punched him to his right eye. The police report indicates that Schroeder indeed had a slight black eye.

Since Brent Schroeder decided not to press charges against her, SWOSU PD is only investigating him about the incident.

Schroeder, who is not a SWOSU student, has a criminal record involving not only the Jiffy Trip incident, but also multiple assaults. He also violated his probation of the Jiffy Trip robbery. He currently has an outstanding warrant.
