KWEY “The Coyote,” is hosting a celebration for its 50th anniversary of the radio station beginning broadcasting. The concert was originally scheduled for June 26, the actual date of its 50th anniversary, but was rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, 2020.
KWEY has been broadcasting from Weatherford for the last 50 years, and is looking forward to celebrating its success with the community of Weatherford and the students of SWOSU. This event has no affiliation with SWOSU and is being booked and put on by KWEY.
“SWOSU has no involvement with the event, other than honoring its agreement to host it in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center,” Nate Downs, director of the PCEC, said.
The talent was originally booked last spring, prior to the current pandemic. The bands performing are Moe Bandy, Tyler Wilhelm and No Justice. Bandy is a country singer who was popular in the 1970s. Tyler Wilhelm and No Justice are both "red dirt country" acts.
“Masks are required for entry with spacing protocols for social-distancing beginning outside with any potential ticketing, concessions or beverage lines, and continuing with spacing for seating in the arena.” Downs said.
Custodians will be present to sanitize the PCEC immediately following the event. Seating in the Pioneer Center will be at 30% capacity. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will start at 6 p.m. Beverage and concession services will be available during the concert. Tickets are available to purchase at stubwire.com or by contacting the KWEY radio station at 580-772-5939.
