SWOSU will be hosting its second annual dance marathon on Feb. 26 at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center starting at 6 p.m. until 12 a.m.
This event is being led by a group of students headed by SWOSUDM President Morgan Duckwall and hosted by Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
“This event would be a six-hour in-person celebration with dancing, games, and Miracle Stories,” Duckwall said in an open letter on her CMN fundraiser page. She would later explain “Miracle Stories” as an event where “participants truly celebrate all that was done for the children’s hospital that year.”
“Dance Marathon does not include running, and only has one dance in it,” said Morale Director Bryce Brown in a video on the SWOSUDM Instagram page. “The one dance is going to be made by me, and so it’s going to be super simple. You’ll dance with the kids, for the kids.”
Brown then demonstrated a portion of the dance, dropping his arms in front of him, keeping his upper arms still while his forearms swayed back and forth.
Special precautions will be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As Duckwall explained, “We will be changing course from (last year’s) main event plan, … but you will still be able to learn about the kids you are helping, celebrate the fundraising efforts, dance, and enjoy food and activities from our local sponsors.”
SWOSU’s Dance Marathon project has already raised more than $2,000 for the CMN Hospital in Oklahoma City since first taking donations back in 2020.
Any questions about the event can be directed to Duckwall at email@example.com. To register for the event, text “SWOSUDM” to 51555.
Donations can be made to the event by visiting the CMN Website. All proceeds will go to the CMN Hospital in Oklahoma City.
