The SWOSU Men’s basketball team headed up North to face the Rangers of Northwestern for only the 2nd time this season. SWOSU (6-8) looked to get back on track after dropping 4- straight against the Rangers (2-9, 0-9 GAC).
The 1st half was a high scoring affair. NWOSU led by 1, 45-44 heading into the half. They were led by Deon Barrett with 14 points and 7 assists. The Bulldogs were led by Damion Thornton with 15 points to lead all scorers and shot a very efficient 85.7%.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-point lead in the 2nd half. But the Rangers came back to within 2-points and brought it to a 68-66 point ball game early in the 2nd half.
SWOSU was able to keep their offense going too and finish strong as they won the game 93-86. Thornton finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 80% from the floor and 70% from the free throw line. This broke their 4-game losing skid and now they are 7-8 on the year.
Their next game is slated for Thursday back home in Weatherford, Okla. to face Southern Nazarene.
