SWOSU Men's Basketball set to take on the Tigers of East Central
By Greydon Buhlig
The SWOSU men’s basketball team looks to continue the success they had last season. Their record may not indicate success, but compared to the 2018-2019 season (5-23, 2-20 GAC), the ’19-’20 (13-15, 9-13 GAC) was a massive push to get the program back on track.
Head coach Terry Evans discussed how the pre-season has gone so far.
“Practices have been great. The guys are tired of practicing against each other… we are really looking forward to it.”
East Central, Evans said, will play aggressive and fast, so look for a lot of transition tonight. ECU returns their top scorer from a year ago, Camron Taylor, who averaged 21.3 points and shot 44.5% from the field.
The Dawgs are also bringing back their top scorer from last season in Damion Thornton. He averaged 19.8 points a game and shot a remarkable 50.6% from the floor.
Evans also commented on what he expects from his team going forward.
“I expect more from Chris Braggs, who has improved, Braylyn James, Kamden Gibson… all these guys were right under the double figure mark in scoring,” said Evans, “Livingston Clear, 6’9” kid, he was hurt off and on all last year and we expect him to be able to a lot more.”
The Dawgs take on the Tigers in their first game of the season this evening in Ada, Okla. It begins at 7:30 pm after the conclusion of the women’s game.
