The SWOSU Women’s Volleyball team had their first GAC home game on Wednesday as they hosted the Lady Tigers of East Central. Through the first 8-points, SWOSU held a 6-2 lead, but ECU would climb back in it and go on a 6-2 run themselves. The first set would stay within 5 points and ECU would call the 1st timeout of the match down 20-16. Chezney Nielsen would have a huge kill to get it to set point, but ECU wouldn’t go away and force the Dawgs to take their last timeout at 24-24. The Lady Dawgs would take the 1st set as Lacy Mott gave them a 28-26 win.
The 2nd set began just like 1st set ended, back-and-forth with it being tied 5-5 10-points into the set. Neither team could grab a big lead and it would remain a tie at 12-12. ECU would hold a 1-point lead, 17-16 as SWOSU would take their 1st timeout of the set. The Lady Dawgs would go on a 3-1 run before ECU called a timeout to talk things over. The Dawgs would pull away at the end and take a 25-21 win in the 2nd set.
SWOSU would jump out early in the 3rd set and take a huge lead, but ECU would stay alive and keep it interesting at 24-22 with match point looming. Freshman Lacy Mott would end it with a kill as the Lady Dawgs would win in 3 sets (28-26, 25-21, 25-22).
Their next match is set for Feb. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla.
