Three SWOSU baseballers represented in Sunflower League All-Star Game
The Sunflower Collegiate League announced Monday the teams for the 2020 SCL All-Star game, which will be played on Saturday, July 25th in Wichita.
SWOSU Baseball had three representatives earn a spot in the game in returners Jackson Dietel and Zach Baxley, who are on the East Team while incoming signee Nate Postlethwait was selected to the West Team.
SWOSU Baseball coach Yack Saunders said: “We are proud of all our guys playing this summer, but a special shout out to Jackson, Zach and Nate for their performance up in Kansas. These three have continued to excel and now they are getting a chance to showcase all the hard work that they have put into the game. We wish them luck in the All-Star Game on Saturday night and we are excited to get them back on campus!”
Dietel was selected to the All-Star team as a pitcher, where he is 3-0 for the Rose Hill Sluggers with a 2.77 ERA in 22.2 innings of action. He’s also batting .259 with four doubles and two home runs in 17 games at the plate. Dietel was dual threat for the Bulldogs this past spring as well, finishing with a 3-1 record on the mound while hitting .348 with five home runs and 21 RBI in just 16 games of action.
Baxley is hitting .440 for the Sluggers with 12 doubles, two home runs and 31 RBI in 21 games over the summer. In the spring, he started all 18 games for SWOSU and ranked third on the team with a .362 batting average to go along with five doubles and nine RBI.
Postlethwait is 4-0 for the Cheney Diamond Dogs with a 1.90 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 23.2 innings pitched this summer. He joins the Bulldogs as a junior in 2021 after previously playing for Allen Community College and Pittsburg State.
The Sunflower Collegiate League is a summer league for college baseball players featuring 10 independently owned teams in South Central Kansas and competing as a Premiere League Affiliate of the National Baseball Congress. The SCL All-Star Game will be played on Saturday night at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University, with a homerun derby at 6:00 pm preceding first pitch of the game at 7:00 pm.
