The SWOSU fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) is holding a car bash as its spring semester fundraiser in which all proceeds go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“My personal goal for this event is to raise $1,000 for St. Jude,” Michael Flores, a TKE member, said.
The event is taking place from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. It will take place at the Duke statue in front of the Clocktower on campus.
The cost is $1 for a hit, $5 for 30 seconds and $10 for a minute.
If you work up an appetite and need something to fill you up, do not worry. The event is also going to be accompanied by the Dubtown Dawgs food trailer, which will be catering the event.
This is a fundraiser that has been done in the past and was very successful for the fraternity.
The members hope to achieve the same amount of success this time around with their previous fundraiser.
The national connection between St. Jude and Tau Kappa Epsilon began over 30 years ago. It started when comedian and actor Danny Thomas, a member of the fraternity, wanted to fight against children’s cancer and prevent it.
With that in mind he turned to his fraternity for help and support. This action began the present relationship between the two organizations.
